Motor Repair
Problems with the motor are not particularly common, but they are usually quite serious. Another positive thing is that they are not difficult to identify. When the opener doesn’t start with the remote, all other controls should be checked as well. Sometimes, the problem is resolved simply by changing the batteries. If the motor doesn’t work with any of the controls, then the issue is most likely with it. In rare cases, the circuit board has failed and the whole system is off including the lights. When it is not possible for the motor to be repaired, it has to be replaced. There is usually no need for replacing any of the connected parts along with it.
Track Repair
Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that can go wrong with this hardware part. When the horizontal and vertical sections are misaligned, there are usually annoying scraping sounds. The repair involves adjusting the sections and tightening the bolts so that the brackets can hold the tracks securely in place. Bending is a more serious problem. It can occur due to small pebbles stuck inside or because of a twister roller stem. In general, the thicker components are more resistant to bending. A bent track can usually be straightened with the appropriate repair technique. When the damage is severe, however, the component has to be replaced with a new one. This is the only solution in case of broken track. The replacement part should have the same size as the original one, and preferably made of galvanized steel.
